They can run around at 60-65% without a care in the world as their ac protects them and anything that does hit them typically just glances off because of DR, and yet they run just as fast as the mystics, ninjas, and other classes that run around at 30% enc or less. Tanks with their ungodly AC have been overpowered for years in MajorMUD.

That's 10 out of 15 classes that typically run around at less than 50% enc (and many of them less than 33%), meaning those classes are all typically moving faster than in a MajorMUD realm, especially the silk and leather classes. I have a hard time believing priests, missionaries, ninjas, thieves, bards, gypsies, warlocks, mages, druids, rangers, and mystics are running around at 60%. I've spent enough time on this, time which IMO could have been better spent working on things that actually need fixing. If you have an account there can you please go test at and report your findings based on actual timed tests? I don't need any convincing, I firmly believe our system is better. I urge you to conduct your own tests based on facts rather than making outrageous and unfounded posts like your last one. Should someone with no encumbrance not move faster than someone at light encumbrance? Should someone at light encumbrance not move faster than someone at medium encumbrance? Should someone at medium not move faster than someone at heavy? Other than complaining for the sake of complaining I don't see how you can argue with this logic. The more you carry, the more encumbered you are and the slower you will move. It takes 22 seconds longer in MajorMUD to travel just 27 rooms because of a 2% gain in encumbrance? Can we not agree that is retarded? Even more retarded is the fact that at 0% encumbrance in MajorMUD you move the exact same speed as you do at 65% encumbrance. Now let's look at the jump in MajorMUD from 65% to 67%. At 65% in GreaterMUD you move just slightly slower than you would at 65% in MajorMUD, which would barely be noticable (nowhere near the outrageous "twice as slow" accusation you're making). At 55% in GreaterMUD you wouldn't even notice any difference. Pier to Town Gates (27 rooms) - Tested using MegaMUD and a web stopwatchįrom 0% to around 50% enc, and from 66% to around 80% you move *faster* in GreaterMUD. Results of testing based on factual evidence (not gut feeling like your post): Just mentioning the feature on other boards makes people say "wtf, that sucks, i hope i can turn that off" I never heard a positive comment. even ninja needs some gear that might make it heavier.Īlso, the simple fact that mud has problems holding on to the original crowd isnt helped by making the game slower than it used to run on a 9600 baud dialup connection connecting to a 486 based server running dos. the halfling can never use better gear to make him less encumbered to move faster unless he ditches a bunch of really key items or is a mystic.

like, a halfling with 150 agility moving "blindingly fast" yet with 50% encumberance moves like a slug compared to an ogre thief who moves gracefully at 60 agility. the only positive is that it partially makes sense. Taking an extra 50% of my day to walk at 55% with scale on does not make sense, I dont think it is fun, I would not ever buy the game with that feature. If I get one life playing half-life2, then so be it. If realism makes it more fun, then thats cool.
